As violence continues to tighten its grip around Karachi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called a special meeting of the federal cabinet next week to review the law and order in the city.

Reports said the Sindh governor, chief minister, chief secretary, Rangers DG, ISI DG and IB DG would also be asked to attend the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Nawaz said the situation in Karachi was of grave concern and needed to be resolved with consensus.

According to sources, on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz, an invitation to MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar has been extended to attend the cabinet session.

It is expected that the federal cabinet will hear the stance of the MQM seeking the deployment of army in Karachi.

The MQM demanded handing over the administrative control of Karachi to the army during Tuesday’s National Assembly and Senate sessions, which was rejected by the government and other parties.

  1. If those arrested were jailed, tried and put to death instead of being released back into the population the murders would begin to stop. What is the point of making the arrests if there is no justice. How can a city like Karachi grow and prosper without law and order. You have to spend half your days worried about your own safety and the safety of your family. It takes a toll on your entire life.

  2. Likewise it is very interesting that some cases acquired great hype only to be forgotten afterwards. There was also unique example when SC registrar was asked to keep public funds and invest them. As if he was a super investor.
