Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday urged political parties with mandate in Sindh to be on the same page for restoring peace in Karachi.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other parties should jointly develop a strategy from the platform of provincial assembly to handle the law and order situation, he added.
Talking to a private TV channel, Rashid said the government would consider the request, if any, from the Sindh government for seeking army’s help. The army was, however, already handling the security issues, he added.
He said the Sindh government should take action against the culprits involved in spreading unrest in Karachi.
To a question, the minister said the provincial government should appoint competent and honest officers for ensuring peace in the mega city and the Federal Government would fully cooperate with it in that regard.
He said that maintaining law and order situation in Karachi was the responsibility of parties having mandate in the province.
