State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab informed the National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday of the government’s decision to grant voting rights to overseas Pakistanis.
According to details, a bill in this regard would be presented before the House on Thursday.
Aftab said previously it had not been possible for the government to allow overseas Pakistanis to vote from abroad as the general elections were nearing when President Zardari had promulgated the Electoral Laws (Amendment) Ordinance 2013.
When questioned by the NA speaker regarding action against Overseas Pakistanis Ministry secretary for not replying to a question asked by the
parliamentarians, Aftab assured the House that the secretary would be held accountable.
