Lack of animals at Marghzar zoo losing visitors’ interest

The Marghzar zoo is losing its popularity among people of the Federal Capital due to absence of prominent animals and poor maintenance which led to lack of interest in people visiting there.
The administration has failed in bringing back the missing animals including lion, leopards, snakes, crocodiles and giraffe to the zoo, neither by purchase nor exchange deals that are common with wildlife associations across the world.
A senior citizen, visitor Ishtiaq Ahmed said, Marghazar Zoo is located at the foot of Margalla hills, which is a tremendous source of attraction for visitors due to its location and fresh charming environment but the administration could not able to manage the zoo for more amusement.
A female visitor, Arooj, said that children visiting the zoo have to return home disappointed after not seeing their favourite animals there. “As compared to other recreational spots, Marghazar Zoo is playing important role in creating knowledge about wild life but there is no big animals to attract the children,” she added.
A group of teenagers said, “It is our last visit. We will never come at the zoo again. What kind of a zoo it is with no roaring lions and tigers,” they said adding that the zoo presents a pathetic look as many cages of animals and birds are lying vacant for many years.
They said that Ducks and Swans are living in the polluted water which affects on the lives of these birds.
Meanwhile, despite contacting the concerned department Capital Development Authority (CDA) several times, their officials stated that they are working to add key facilities and animals to the zoo.
It is pertinent to mention that the CDA official had always stated that they are going to implement a project to bring all the missing breeds of the animals but unfortunately nothing has been done by their side.
However, the residents of twin cities had demanded to bring all the missing animals and finalize development projects as soon as possible to entertain the citizens.
