PMA files contempt of court petition against KP CM, health minister, chief secy, secy
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Tuesday submitted a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, Chief Secretary Arbab Shehzad and Health Secretary Dr Fakhare Alam regarding the appointments of chief executive of main hospitals in the province.
The petition was filed by KP PMA President Dr Hussain Ahmad Haroon. He informed the court that the KP government had violated the court’s August 5 short order.
In its August 5 decision of the petition filed by Dr. Hussain regarding the appointments of chief executives of main hospitals in KP, the court had declared that “in the meantime the KP government may proceed with the matter but shall not pass any final order”.
According to the petition, the KP government had decided to replace chief executives of four main hospitals of the province. The petitioner had also attached newspaper clippings of reports regarding the appointment of new chief executives of Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex and Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad.
Dr Hussain said that as the matter was being considered in court, the respondents had indulged in contempt of court.
The PHC has yet to fix a date for hearing the petition.
