2 security officials killed in attack on checkpost in SWA

At least two security forces’ personnel were killed and another two were injured when militants attacked a checkpost in Sararogha area of South Waziristan early on Tuesday.

The security forces claimed claiming killing four militants in retaliation but the Taliban said five of their accomplices had been killed.

An official in Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan, said a group of militants attacked the security forces checkpost late in the night, adding that the attack was very severe and one security official had been killed while three had been injured. He said of the injured had later succumbed to his injuries.

The official said the security forces retaliated and the ensuing encounter continued for around three hours. He said one of the militants was a suicide bomber and he blew himself with explosives while another three were killed in the encounter.

Four bodies of militants had been taken into custody.

The Taliban told reporters that they had lost five accomplices in the attack. They also claimed inflicting heavy human and logistic losses to the security forces.

Meanwhile, an official of the Khyber Agency political administration, Shahid Khan, and three of his friends were abducted from Jamrud on Tuesday. Khan’s car was recovered from Shahkas area.
