NA resumes debate on presidential address

After a two-day break, the National Assembly session to debate the issue of the president’s address to a joint sitting of parliament will resume on Monday at 4pm with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
After a protest, all the opposition parties on Friday had agreed extension in the session of the National Assembly to debate the president’s address.
The session was previously to be prorogued on Friday but it was extended by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on the request of Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah to allow a debate on presidential address.
The opposition leader will start debate on the presidential address.
Opposition parties, especially the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Jamaat-e-Islami, and the Awami Muslim League, are expected to give tough time to the PPP for its five-year performance in the last five years.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members will also be critical but their members are expected to be mild in their criticism. While the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) are expected to be soft on the PPP as they were part of the previous government.
It is going to be a sensational (and even volatile) session as PTI gears up to launch its strong protest over arrest of its activists.
Separately, newly-elected members elected in by-polls will not take oath during this session.
Sources said that 13 elected MNAs are not able to take oath, because they have to submit their details within 14 days after the election.
After 14 days current session of NA will be ended, while election commission will issue the notification of successful candidates after 14 days.
