Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Sunday told Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif to resolve all issues through dialogue instead of using force.

According to a private television channel, Nawaz told the CM that peaceful protest was every individual’s and party’s democratic and constitutional right and directed the Punjab government not to show violence against peaceful protestors.

He expressed his dissatisfaction over Lahore police’s action against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and office bearers during a protest on Mall Road, saying the police’s attitude had triggered anguish among the PTI leadership and the common man.

“Democracy and protests are interlinked,” said Nawaz.

Nawaz told the CM that using the government machinery to impose decisions could result in disorder and confrontation among the political forces.
