The business community from all across the country has lauded the government and business leaders for their untiring efforts to bring Pakistan and Thailand closer which has opened new horizon of opportunities. The successful visit of Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra not only boosted sentiments but paved way for increased cooperation between the two countries which was a great national service, they added, says an FPCCI statement on Sunday. It said that they lauded the role of President FPCCI Zubair Ahmed Malik who visited Bangkok thrice before the arrival of Thai PM to ensure the positive developments on the economic front. In their meetings and messages to the president of the apex chamber the VP of Saarc Chamber Iftikhar Ali Malik, President IWCCI Farida Rashid, President ICCI Zafar Bakhtawari, President Sindh Women Chamber Rizwana Shahid, President South Punjab Women’s Chamber and others said that the recent development was possible because of the sincerity of political and business leaders. The business leaders fully backed the regional approach of the the PML-N government and the FPCCI policy of people-to-people contacts which would go a long way in furthering cordial ties with Asian nations. President FPCCI Zubair Ahmed Malik said that Thailand not only offersgolden business opportunities but many centres of education in Bangkok offer an alternative to our youngsters who desire quality foreign education at reduced price. Thailand can increase Pakistan’s presence in the ASEAN opening new windows of opportunities, said Malik, adding that we will soon come out of the economic blues and break the begging bowl as we have full faith in government’s reform agenda. In the first half of this year the value of Pak-Thai trade reached $536.8 million, a 7.2 percent increase on the same period last year, he informed. He called upon increased measures to control law and order in order to attract investment and tourists and make ‘Look East Asia’ policy a great success.
