A partial strike was observed in Quetta on the eve of late Akbar Bugti’s seventh death anniversary on Monday.
Former Balochistan chief minister and founder of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), Bugti died in an operation in Tatari area of Dera Bugti district in 2005.
The JWP and the Balochistan Republican Party gave a strike call in Balochistan, which was also supported by the PML-N, the PPP, the BNP-Awami, the BNP-Mengal, the JI, the PTI, the JUI-N, the transport and trade unions.
Main markets in the city remained partially closed while areas including Sariab Road, Jail Road, Spini Road, Qambarani Road and Huda were completely closed. Stringent security arrangements were put in place to avert any eventuality.
No incident of violence was reported.
