The central bank has delayed the announcement of monetary policy decision till next month for reasons best known to the regulator. “The SBP will announce its next monetary policy on September 13,” the bank said. The bank was due, earlier, to make the decision next week, most probably on Friday. The new discount rate, which the analysts believe would see at least a 50 basis points raise from the current 9 percent, would be unveiled at the SBP through a press conference by Governor State Bank of Pakistan Yaseen Anwar at 4:30pm. Subsequent, the State Bank said, the monetary policy statements would be announced during the first half of alternate months – in January, March, May, July, September, and November.
