Spokesman of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Jan Achakzai on Sunday said women voters have been barred from voting on more than 90 polling stations, while small numbers of proxy votes were polled after the agreement with local elders.
Talking to media, Achakzai said the JUI-F has decided to file a petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today (Monday) repelling on around 90 polling stations, while the issue will be also raised in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday. PHC has already taken sue-motto on this issue.
He said that of 254 polling stations, the JUI-F is demanding re-polling on nearly 90 polling stations. ”Women were barred not from only 23 stations, but between 80 to 90 stations,” he added.
Achakzai said that JUI (F) would not allow disenfranchise women voters at any cost.
