Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Altaf Hussin on Thursday said that everyone saw the so-called ‘tsunami’ going down the drain in the by-polls, referring to the whitewash of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in some of its strongholds in Karachi.

In a statement issued from London, he said, “This is a critical time for the country and calls for all political parties to learn to recognise each other’s existence.”

Congratulating the leaders of the political parties which won seats in the by-elections, Hussain said they should reciprocate and accept the MQM’s mandate.

He said because of transparency in the by-polls, the ‘tsunami’, which some claimed would wash the MQM out, was nowhere to be found.
