Scattered rain in the city on Friday turned the weather pleasant and ended the muggy conditions prevailing in the provincial capital for the last three to four days.

The monsoon rain provided the people a much-needed respite from the muggy conditions and prolonged power outages since Monday and they thronged the city’s parks to enjoy the pleasant weather.

The rain started at about 12:45 pm and lasted for a mere half hour yet submerged the streets and roads, even of posh localities, including Garden Town, Model Town and Gulberg, affecting the movement of traffic in the city and adding to the miseries of the pedestrians.

The humidity was recorded at 63 percent in the morning and 85 percent in the evening. The maximum temperature recorded was 36 degree Celsius and minimum 27 degree Celsius.

Per the Met Office, a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan and its adjoining areas. The monsoon current in the upper parts of the country has shifted to southwards so the chances of rain during the next two weeks are low.

The local Met Office has forecast mainly hot and humid weather in Lahore over the next 24 hours.
