By-poll victory reflects PML-N’s popularity: Sanaullah

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Friday that his party maintained its popularity graph and the people of Mianwali and Peshawar rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the by-elections held on Thursday.

Talking to the reporters outside the Punjab Assembly, Sana said that by voting against the PTI in Peshawar and Mianwali, the people had defied the white paper on rigging submitted by the PTI.

Sana advised PTI Chairman Imran Khan to give up the role of an angry man and focus on the uplift of the country. He said Khan should withdraw his statement against the returning officers as they could not respond against Khan through press conferences.

“The PTI chairman should apologise to the nation over his statement. I suggest that Khan behave like a political leader,” he said.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) accepted the results of the by-elections which, he said, were free, fair and transparent.

He said that had the PML-N not repeatedly changed its contestants for contest in Islamabad, the ‘tsunami’ would not have succeeded, adding that the PML-N was defeated by the PTI in Dera Ghazi Khan as both sons of PML-N leader Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa were contesting for the same seat. The party ticket should have been given to some party worker from Rajanpur, he said.

Sanaullah urged Khan to join hands with PML-N government to steer the country out of terrorism and other problems.
