PM’s office spends whopping Rs 1.20b in five years

In a poor country like ours, the office of chief executive of the country (the Prime Minister’s office) spent a massive amount of Rs 1.20 billion during the last five years, starting from 2008 to date.

The internal expenditure included refreshments, Pakistan Today has learnt.

Details show that the expenditure made by the office of the chief executive included employees-related expenses, operating expenses, employees retirement benefits, transfers, physical assets, repair and maintenance spending, grants, subsidies, loans and advances.

In year 2008-09, the total expenditure made by the PM’s office touched a figure of at least Rs 150.55 million, which rose to Rs 410.64 million in the current year, 2012-13.

Only in account of repair and maintenance, the spending made by the office of the PM five years earlier in year 2008-09 were estimated at Rs 6.19 million, while that has now been raised to Rs 10.63 million.

In the year 2011-12, the total expenditure made by the office was Rs 240.86 million, which was Rs 200.43 million in 2010-11. The same head in year 2009-10 was recorded at Rs 170.61 million.

The office spent Rs 0.88 million (Rs 8,89,003 ) in account of its physical assets during the year 2008-09, however in year 2012-13, the expenditure in the same account rose up to Rs 100.75 million.

Employees-related expenditure in year 2008-09 was Rs 80.89 million and the same has gone up to Rs 200 million in year 2012-13.
