The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued a notice to Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General and Johar Town Sports Complex Secretary on a petition challenging the Sports Complex’s membership criteria and fee.
Justice Atir Mahmood issued a notice on a petition filed by the Petitioner’s Counsel Zahid Hussain.
Earlier, the petitioner argued before the court that the complex was constructed with money from the national exchequer but its membership could only be afforded by the elite class because Rs 100,000 for registration, Rs 300,000 as a security deposit and a monthly fee of Rs 20,000 was unaffordable for the common man.
He contended that the common man could not pay such fees, therefore, directions needed to be issued to the LDA to review its membership policy and reduce the membership fee.
After recording the initial argument, the court issued a notice to the respondents, seeking their replies within 10 days.
