ICT notifies district level local holiday today

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) district magistrate on Wednesday notified local holiday in all educational institutions and government offices at district level of the federal capital on account of by-elections today. According to a notification, the decision was taken in compliance with the instructions of the Ministry of Interior to facilitate the voters to cast their votes. However, the offices and departments of ICT administration, federal government, provincial government and of equivalent level will remain open and functional as usual, it said.
TEACHERS IN CAPITAL READY TO SERVE AT POLLING STATIONS: Hundreds of teachers working in different public institutes under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) as well as volunteers are ready to perform election duties at different polling stations in the capital. Thousands of voters are ready to cast their ballots for the National Assembly seat, NA-48, in federal capital on the by-polls day on August 22. Nasira, a teacher at a local college said, “I would perform duty in my college in F-6/2 to facilitate the polling process during the by-polls. It is the duty of every citizen to cast vote to the political party of his or her choice to bring a positive change in the country.” “It is our national obligation to facilitate the polling process at polling stations as we have been doing in the past,” she said. Another teacher, Mazhar Nisar said, “Serving at polling stations during election is not a new thing as we have done this in the past as well.” He hoped that the by-polls process would be more transparent with the involvement of educated segment in the polling process.
