The Islamabad administration has uploaded the first 2 mauzas, Rehra and Jandala, on the computerised system on Wednesday. The process was supervised by the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Amer Ahmed. The initiative was expedited with the formation of the current government and within 2 months, over 500,000 documents have been scanned and the first 2 mauzas have been uploaded. The DC Amer Ahmed informed that he was hopeful that they would meet the target of uploading all 100 mauzas by January 2014. It has also been learnt that next batch of 14 mauzas will be computerised within two weeks. The automated issuance of “fard” will commence from next week however, necessary amendment in laws for this “digital fard” is yet to be carried out. It is hoped that this initiative will reduce the manipulation at the hands of patwaris and revenue staff as an entry once made cannot be amended arbitrarily or by one stroke of pen of the patwari. Though a first step yet it is a major progress and breakthrough towards the land record automation initiative.
