Jewelry, precious stones exports increase by 28 pc

The exports of precious stones and jewelry have increased by 28.54 percent during the last fiscal year of 2012-13.

According to the report of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS) from July 2012 to June 2013, the exports were of 1.170 million dollars, whereas, during the fiscal year 2011 to 2012 the exports were about 916.4million dollars.

During the described period, the export of only jewelry was 45,75,000 dollars whereas in the fiscal year 2011-12 the exports of precious stones were recorded at 39,51,000 dollars.

According to PBS report, during the last fiscal year the exports of furniture and handicrafts were recorded with an increase of 9 and 10 percent respectively.
