Chief Secretary Javed Aslam directed the divisional commissioners and district coordination officers to provide relief to the victims of Punjab’s flood affected areas.
He was presiding over a meeting at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday to review Punjab’s flood relief activities. Additional Chief Secretary Sohail Aamir, Information and Culture Secretary Momin Agha, Local Government Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Home Secretary Major (R) Azam Salman Khan, Implementation and Coordination Secretary Ali Tahir, Rescue-1122 DG Dr Rizwan Naseer, Information and Culture Additional Secretary Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani and officials of the PDMA, the Irrigation Department and the Livestock Department also participated in the meeting.
Aslam warned the authorities concerned that no laxity or negligence would be tolerated in the relief and rehabilitation activities. He said that the government functionaries responsible should make all-out efforts for the permanent rehabilitation of the affectees.
He said that the District government and the Health department should make joint efforts to provide basic health facilities to the flood victims at their camps through mobile teams. He directed the Divisional Commissioners concerned to provide clean drinking water to the affectees. He also stressed the authorities concerned to maintain law and order in the flood affected areas.
Furthermore, Aslam directed the District administration to monitor the flow of water in the rivers and water channels round the clock and to immediately inform the institutions concerned in case of any emergent situation. He said that institutions concerned should maintain close contact with each other to control any untoward situation resulting from rains and potential floods.
