Cops want things to be perfect for by-polls

The security plan for the upcoming by-elections was scripted and included the appointment of 4,000 police officials to all sensitive polling stations and the decision to surround the polling stations with barriers.
According to sources, 4,106 police personnel would be appointed to 638 polling stations while 2,072 police officials would supervise the 120 sensitive polling stations. Sharp wires about 100 meters from every sensitive polling station would additionally be laid to prevent the entry of vehicles, they added.
Report said that Sadar Division 21, Iqbal Town Division 18, Civil Line Division 13, City Division 12 and Cantt Division 6’s polling stations were declared sensitive and the police officials concerned were ordered to strictly supervise the arrangements and disallow the entry of any individual possessing arms, adding that action would be taken against the area’s Superintendent (SP) if such an event occurred.
TRAFFIC PLAN FOR BY-ELECTION: The city traffic police on Tuesday devised a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on various city roads during August 22nd’s by-polls.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt (retd) Sohail Chaudhry said that the traffic police would regulate traffic outside the polling stations, the election commission office, the returning officer’s office and other busy roads to facilitate the motorists.
Moreover, Two SP’s, seven DSP’s, 51 Inspectors and 653 traffic wardens would perform their duties in this regard on August 22, he added.
