Rejecting the Local Government Bill passed by the Sindh Assembly, MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Monday said the PPP was conspiring to divide the province.
In a telephonic address to party members, Altaf alleged that the PPP had begun working to divide Sindh in 1973. “The PPP is only trying to hoodwink the international community,” he said.
He said the PPP wanted the rural-urban and the Sindh-non-Sindhi division in the province with the approval of the bill, which he said was tantamount to imposing the British Raj.
The MQM chief said the PPP was hatching a conspiracy through the legislation but “the Sindhis and the Baloch will foil its attempts to divide the province”.
He asked his supporters not get demoralised if the British police arrested him, adding that he was the victim of an international conspiracy but he would not bow to anyone.
Altaf said the Great Britain had introduced the system to control its subjects and continue its colonial rule.
He appealed to the people to vote for MQM candidates in the by-elections.
“Downfall of the PPP government in Sindh has started from today (Monday) and the PPP will split,” he said.
He said no other province was adopting the kind of LG system the PPP was trying to introduce in Sindh.
