The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Sunday foiled a bid to smuggle heroin filled capsules to Saudi Arabia worth millions of rupees.
According to details, during screening of a passenger Jamal Khan, hailing from Kurram Agency who was leaving for Jeddah through Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-741, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, 100 heroin filled capsules were found in his stomach.
The Airport Security Force (ASF) arrested him and shifted him to a hospital where the capsules were extracted after a surgery.
Drugs traffickers often try to smuggle heroin filled capsules by swallowing them but most of them are detected and arrested at the airport during body screening.
SECURITY TROUBLING CITIZENS: The tight security in the surroundings and on roads leading to Benazir Bhutto International Airport is creating trouble for the motorists and passengers.
The security of the airport has been tightened in the backdrop of terror threats. The entry of common citizen is banned in the area from 11:00 pm to 6:00am, while the security officials check each person and vehicle entering the areas round the clock.
The motorist and passengers complained that long queues of vehicles on the entry of the airport waste their time as they have to wait for hours on end to enter the airport which cause them to miss their flights.
The motorists demanded the Minister for Interior Nisar Ali Khan to devise a better strategy for security arrangements and to save them trouble.
57 BIKES, 10 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED: Capital Police on Sunday removed black sheets from 12 tinted glass vehicles during general hold up in the city and imposed fines on violators, a police spokesman said.
According to details, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has directed all police officials to ensure effective security and patrolling measures in their respective areas. The police officials have been directed to take strict action against vehicles being driven without documents and criminal elements.
In compliance of these directions, Islamabad police launched a crackdown and impounded 57 bikes and 10 vehicles during general hold up. Police also apprehended four suspects during search operation in various areas of the city.
