Two children were among the three individuals killed in various rain-related roof collapse incidents on Sunday.
A roof collapse at a house near Bedian Road’s Jammu Stop trapped eight people under the debris. Rescue teams reached the spot and pulled out two dead children and other injured individuals from the debris.
In another incident, a man died after the roof of a dilapidated house in Baghbanpura collapsed.
At a house on the Kacha Kamahan Road, four people trapped under the debris were rescued by their neighbours and shifted to the nearest hospital. Moreover, two other incidents of roof collapses occurred at Ithad Park Street 7 and Misri Shah Street 3, where five individuals were trapped under the debris. Reports revealed that one man was killed. The victims were shifted to the nearest hospitals for medical treatment.
In another incident a wall collapsed at Shalimar’s Dhoobi Muhala where a man named Ashraf died when he was passing by a wall. Another individual, Safdar, was also injured due to the collapse of the wall and was later shifted to the nearest hospital.
GIRL DROWNS IN SEWERAGE DRAIN: As per details, a two-year-old girl drowned in South Cantt Madina Park’s sewerage drain on Sunday.
Reports said that the girl, Jannat, drowned in the drain that had overflowed due to the heavy rainfall in the city.
Rescue teams reached the site and started the operation and found the dead body and later handed it over to the girl’s family members.
TWO DROWN IN FLOODS: In another incident two brothers drowned in floods at Choungh.
Reports said that the two brothers, Bilal and Afzaal drowned in the flooded area of Choungh. Rescue teams reached the spot but could not find the dead bodies and finished the operation after a call received by the DCO.
The family members protested against the government and said that the rescue operation was stopped after the DCO’s call.
Later, the area’s residents resorted to searching for the dead bodies themselves, but were unable to do so.
