KP govt forms councils for improving management, eradicating corruption in teaching hospitals

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has announced independent management councils for the four teaching hospitals of the province, including Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Peshawar and Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), Abbottabad.

The councils will comprise experts from various fields who will oversee the procurements of the four hospitals and advise the hospital administration on ways to provide better services to patients and ensure transparency in the hospital affairs.

Members of the council for KTH will include Major General (r) Tajul Haq, Professor Dr Meher Taj Rughani, Justice (r) Mian Mohammad Ajmal and senior journalist Iqbal Khattak. The council for LRH will include former chief secretary Rustam Shah Mohmand, former secretary health Salim Khan Jagrha, senior journalist Raheemullah Yousafzai, Dr Nazimuddin and industrialist Mohsin Aziz. The council for HMC will include Sahibzada Mohammad Khalid, Shahid Hayat, Dr Nadeem Aalam, Prof Rafiullah and journalist Ismail Khan. The council for ATH will consist of Justice (r) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan, Colonel (r) Mustafa Jadoon, senior journalist Rashid Javed and Riaz Khan Bogrhamand.

Appreciating the acceptance of council membership by the eminent personalities, the KP health minister said these people were considered impartial and thus their supervision would also eradicate corruption from the hospitals.
