Apt judgment by pilot averts potential PIA disaster

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight escaped a potential disaster on Saturday morning as its pilot managed to safely land the aircraft after a bird hit its engine.
A PIA spokesperson said that some parts were urgently needed to fix the damaged engine.
“We have written several letters to the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) Director General (DG) to eliminate birds from the airports at Lahore and Karachi but no implementation has been seen,” he added.
According to airport sources, the PIA is suffering losses worth billions of dollars due to birds occasionally colliding with their aircrafts at the Lahore and Karachi airports, respectively.
