The Supreme Court has summoned the OGDCL managing director and the Attorney General of Pakistan on Monday for reply to a petition on spreading of environmental pollution in Sanghar district of Sindh by oil and gas companies.
Chief Justice Iftikhar MuhammadChaudhry took notice on an application of Tehsil Bar Association President Tando Adam Abdul Hakeem Khoso Advocate. The applicant submitted that the oil and gas companies were spreading environmental pollution in the area instead of providing infrastructure, jobs and gas facilities to the local people.
After going through the contents of the application, the chief justice ordered that the application be put up as a petition and to issue notices to the OGDCL managing director and the Attorney General of Pakistan for tomorrow (Monday).
