A blemish-free round helped Ross Fisher in to a share of the lead at the end of day one of the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina. Fisher carded a six-under-par 64 to sit on the top of the pile alongside American Chris Stroud – with the duo a shot clear of a group of eight players including defending champion Sergio Garcia, Trevor Immelman and Robert Garrigus. Fisher, who is in his first year on the PGA Tour, picked up four birdies and an eagle on the par-five fifth, when he hit his approach shot to seven feet.
The Englishman told pgatour.com: “My manager said, ‘You’ve got nothing to lose. Just go out there all guns blazing and see what happens’.
“I know what I’ve got to do, and I’ve just got to go enjoy it, and if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. Agencies
“I don’t want it to end here.”
