PTI admits failure in protecting DI Khan jail

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi admitted on Friday that the Dera Ismail (DI) Khan jailbreak incident was a failure of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and action was being taken against the officials responsible.

Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House, he said steps were being taken to avoid recurrence of such incidents.

He urged the federal government to thoroughly investigate the August 15 Islamabad incident.

He said the government and opposition should unite against terrorists and asked the interior minister to inform the parliament about the armed person (Sikander) who entered Islamabad

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member of National Assembly Naveed Qamar assured the government of full cooperation from the opposition benches to eliminate terrorism from the country.

To a question, he said the PPP would not politicise the issue but “it is the responsibility of the interior minister not to conceal anything and share information with the House”.

Talking to the media, Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA Kishwar Zehra condemned terrorisn and lauded Pakistan Baitul Maal former chairman Zamurad Khan for his bravery.
