Ephedrine case: Shahabuddin, Ali Moosa Gilani, Hafiz to be indicted on Sept 3

The Anti-Narcotics Court(ANC) on Saturday issued the final challan against 10 accused, including Ali Musa Gillani, son of former prime minister Yusaf Raza Gillani, former federal minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and former health director-general Dr Asad Hafiz in the ephedrine quota case.

ANC Judge Arshad Mehmood Tabbasum was hearing the case. The challan was submitted by the ANF prosecutor. Copies of the challan were also given to the accused, all of whom were present in the court.

The accused will be indicted on September 3

On the request of the counsels of the accused, the court fixed September 26 for arguments on the applications filed by the accused seeking the unfreezing of their bank accounts.

Gilani’s counsel Faisal Chaudhry said he had submitted an application in the court seeking exemption from attendance in the court for Musa but no decision was taken in this regard.

“Moosa is facing life threats but he still comes to court when summoned. He faces great risk in coming to court following the kidnapping of his brother Ali Haider Gilani,” he added.

The court ruled that the matter would be decided after hearing the prosecution’s arguments.

Talking to reporters after his appearance in the court, Moosa said he was facing life threats and the whereabouts of his brother could not be ascertained so far.

“We have received evidence that the al-Mansoor Brigade has kidnapped Haider. However, we cannot say anything unless the video of Haider is released by the kidnappers,” he said.
