Foreign investment can increase with better policies as Pakistan is a viable investment destination and the government should take steps to attract maximum foreign investment.

These views were expressed by Mian Zahid Aslam, President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Saturday. He said during the past few years, foreign direct investment had witnessed a significant fall to $ 812.6 in 2011-12 from US$ 5,409.8 in 2007-08, reflecting loss of confidence of foreign investors.

He said though foreign private investment had increased by 46 percent in July 2013 and the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) had increased to US$ 1.318 billion during July-May 2013, but it could jump to 100 percent as foreign investors wanted to invest in various sectors.

He urged the government to devise policies to attract foreign financial inflows for growth and revival of the economy.
