Al Kazeem left trainer Roger Charlton delighted after his latest work ahead of the Juddmonte International at York on Wednesday.
The five-year-old has been a revelation this season, winning the Tattersalls Gold Cup, Prince of Wales’s Stakes and Coral-Eclipse.
Victory on the Knavesmire would be his fourth Group One of the campaign and sixth Pattern-race win in succession.
Charlton said on www.rogercharlton.com: “Al Kazeem worked over seven furlongs on beautiful ground after some recent rain on Thursday morning and I was delighted to see him travel so well and stretch out to go clear of his lead horse.
“He appears to be in great form, happy, fresh and looking really well as usual.”
Charlton told Channel 4 he hoped there would be some rain at York. He said: “More recently there has been a bit more ease in the ground, which I think is definitely to his advantage, he stretches out really well, so I’m really hoping that at York we get a bit of rain.
“He’s the best horse I’ve ever trained. Trainers often say ‘he’s the best I’ve had’ but on official ratings he’s the best I’ve had.
“He’s a very tough, versatile horse. He’s very straightforward to train, a very sound horse and a good-looking horse.
“I don’t know if horses keep improving, probably not, aged five, but he seems to me to be every bit as good as he was earlier in the year and that we will find out at York.”
