Unexplained curfew imposed in Warsak Road area

A curfew-like situation exists in certain villages bordering the Warsak Road where the military and paramilitary personnel have blocked roads for traffic and people are not allowed to come out of their homes.

A resident of village Shagai informed Pakistan Today on Thursday via telephone that for the last three days the people of his village were confined to their homes.

Paramilitary troops have been deployed at Shagai Bazaar on Warsak Road in the jurisdiction of Reegi Police Station. The roads leading to Mulagori area of Khyber Agency, Cadet College Warsak, Jamrod and Kafhor Dheri have also been blocked for traffic.

The police and paramilitary forces personnel have not stated the reason for imposing the curfew.

There are reports of the presence of militants in certain villages in the jurisdiction of Mathra and Reegi police stations. The area is close to the Mohmand and Khyber tribal agencies, which serve as safe havens to many militants.
