The parliamentary committee for judges’ appointment was reformed on Thursday and its meeting has been called on August 19.
According to details, the parliamentary committee for the judges’ appointment was reconstituted after the May 11 general elections. A notification to this effect was issued by the Senate Secretariat on Thursday.
PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, PML-N Senator Malik Rafiq Rajwana, ANP Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani, PML-N MNAs Mehmood Bashir Virk and Arshid Leghari, PPP’s Naveed Qamar and PTI’s Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been included in the parliamentary committee.
The names of the committee members were sent to the Senate Secretariat after consultation by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khurshid Shah, Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Aitzaz Ahsan.
The maiden meeting of the reformed committee will be held on August 19 at 11am. The meeting is likely to give approval to the recommendations of the judicial committee regarding appointment of high court judges.
