An armed man demanding the establishment of Islamic rule in Pakistan opened fire in the heavily guarded heart of Islamabad on Thursday after slipping past the capital’s many checkpoints.
Security has been tight in Islamabad after police received an alert about possible attacks by militants operating from the tribal areas on Pakistan’s lawless border with Afghanistan.
As night fell, the unidentified man drove a black vehicle into the tightly guarded centre of Islamabad, stopped within a stone’s throw from the president’s official residence and opened fire in the air.
The gunman is said to have a Kalashnikov rifle in his possession along with a submachine gun. A woman and two children are also reported to be in the car with him.
“I am against vulgarity and immorality. My associates have taken up positions in the whole of Pakistan,” he told a local TV channel.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered in the central Jinnah Avenue and periodic gunshots rang out in the air.
Checkpoints and police armed with assault rifles dot many major access points in Islamabad, where attacks have become rare in recent years.
Security has been tightened further in past weeks, particularly in the city centre where most government buildings and diplomatic missions are located.
Although he appeared to act on his own and seemed confused in his demands, it was unclear how the man, armed with at least two automatic rifles, managed to paralyse the city centre and cause a standoff with police including anti-terrorist units.
Police and other officials are speaking with the man in order to defuse the situation. So far he has refused to lay down his weapons.
The gunman has also threatened to target Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

  1. shame on police and interior minister..one man made Islamabad hostage..and we are thinking another war against India

    • I wonder why police commandos were not able to capture him? Well done Zamurd Khan. Government should try to find out the people behind this drama. It may be a warning by Taliban. No doubt people of Pakistan are Muslims however majority don't like "nafaz shariat on gun point" except followers of Zia.

    • they were just thinking for kids and lady. because we are not the killers of innocent people sso keep carrot in ur ass and enjoy

  2. There was no need for a dialogue but should have been taken on by a sharp shooter. Don’t we have enough terrorist trouble already. What are we up to for Gods sake?!

  3. Leave him alone pakistaniao ,no need to arrest a person like him who is so brave to dare and made hostage the whole nation.

    • @Majboor, Had he be so brave than His wife must be having a proper parda. He was demanding from Govt the Islamic System, which he can not apply in his home.
The other thing is He was so fearless because he know He can offer the half to CJ of which he was getting for doing so and will again come out to serve the nation again. Like many does in the tenure of CJ not a single terror man get sentence and many released…..if you doubt go check the records

  4. it will be a pre planned drama definately , just to tell the world that we are still facing terrorism and we need aid from America.

  5. If Sikander would capture any road of Mumbai they would capture or kill him on the spot, that’s why India is leading with Pakistan.
Pakistan can’t beat only one man,so what will Pakistan do in the war? Obviously we all know the answer.
    Shame on us.

  6. Sikander Saga – Unanswered Questions?

    1. All the TV channels reported that Sikander was in a rented car.

    2. All the TV channels also reported that as per Excise department information the registration numbers on the car were fake.

    3. After the operation was over and Sikander and his wife were shifted to the hospital, IGP Islamabad came over the TV and stated that Sikender snatched the car from the hotel owner.

    Now the questions are that:

a). if the car was snatched from the hotel owner did he report the incident to the police?

Was an FIR of this car snatching was lodged with the police?

b). Was this crime of Sikander mentioned in the FIR finally lodged by the police against him under the anti-terrorism act?

c). Moreover, has the police lodged an FIR against the hotel owner for putting up a fake number plate on his car?
