Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage) will observe special Independence Day celebrations today.
The day will start with the flag hoisting ceremony. An exhibition of artisans-at-work in craft fields of truck art, papier mache, doll making, wax printing, embroidery, namda & gabba weaving will be held.
The museum will remain open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm showcasing living cultural heritage and lifestyles of the people of Pakistan. To attract visitors, fifty percent reduction on entry for adults is being offered.
A group of drummers (dholis) in traditional costumes will entertain the visitors throughout the day. A live concert featuring renowned folk artist Qurban Niazi will also be held in the evening. Special entertainment activities for children such as jumping castles, puppet show, magic show, juggling, local musical programme, food stalls have been arranged.
Monument Museum at Shakarparian will also remain open for the public from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
