President Asif Ali Zardari, on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s advice, approved the conferment of the National Award (Civil) upon six eminent personalities.
The recipients include columnist Irfan Siddique who will receive the Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Muhammad Ashiq Chaudhry who will receive the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
Recipients of the President’s Award for Pride of Performance include photo-journalist Azhar Hussain Jafri, late human rights activist and Pakistan Air Force Officer (r) Cecil Chaudhry and journalist Nazir Laghari.
Former cricket commentator/journalist Munir Hussain (late) will also receive a posthumous President’s Award for Pride of Performance.
