Monsoon rain on Tuesday lashed several parts of the country, including Rawalpindi‚ Islamabad‚ Murree‚ Lahore‚ Gujranwala‚ Sialkot‚ Faisalabad‚ Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan‚ Karachi‚ Thar‚ Peshawar and Nowshera.
The most affected areas were Islamabad‚ and Rawalpindi, where, according to a spokesman of the Met Office, 189 mm, and 100 mm of rain had been recorded respectively.
According to rescue officials‚ the water level in Nullah Leh reached an alarming level due to the heavy rains in the morning, however the water level had now started to recede in Katarian and Gawalmandi.
Rain also lashed several parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Spillways of Rawal Dam had to be opened to discharge additional water.
According to the Peshawar Flood Cell Irrigation Department, River Kabul was in medium flood at Warsak while in low flood at Nowshehra.
It said River Indus was also in low flood at Khairabad Attock and Turbela‚ River Swat at Khwazakhela and Amandara Headworks and River Panjkora was in low flood in Dir.
Meanwhile, two houses collapsed in Abbottabad due to heavy rain, killing two women.
According to reports, two women died after the roofs of the two houses caved in in Sherwan and Kathiala areas of Abbottabad.
