A formal request made by Pakistani high commission in India on thinning out diplomatic staff has been received by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the wake of prevailing tension across the border.
The PM will soon convene a meeting of National Security Council, army and cabinet’s defence committee to review the situation.
Citing diplomatic sources, Times of India has claimed Pakistan is contemplating to reduce the diplomatic staff owing to non-provision of foolproof security to the Pakistani High Commission staff by India. Movement of suspected persons is also being seen near the high commission and residences of Pakistani diplomatic staff.
Official sources in Islamabad have also confirmed that the request from the high commission has reached Nawaz.
The government has also called upon India to scale up the security of PIA offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. This demand was made after the threats hurled by extremist Hindu outfit Shivsena.
Referring to military sources, the paper said Pakistan was considering relocation of its troops from Western borders to Eastern borders.
On the other hand, India is persistently resorting to unprovoked shelling on Pakistani soil. Following the emergence of tension on borders, the bid made by Indian ruling party to attack Pakistani high commission in New Delhi has brought the ties to a crossroad.
The newspaper has claimed that Pakistan has started considering to scale down its diplomatic staff in India due to non-provision of proper security by India. Claim has been made at such juncture of time when Pakistan has summoned Indian deputy high commissioner in the Foreign Office and expressed its reservations on prevailing tension on LoC. India committed violation of LoC three times on Monday.
Military sources said the latest incident took place at 2100hrs when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Nanga Topa and Panama posts in Nakial sector at LoC. Pakistan troops responded effectively to Indian firing. Earlier one person was seriously injured due to unprovoked shelling by Indian troops in Jakwal sector in Norowal.
The Pakistan Army is bent upon sabotaging the Peace Talks. It has a vested interest in keeping up the tension. In India it is not the same state of affairs. The Army has no role in Policy decision. It is just now allowed to react to violence from Pakistan Army in a tactical manner. The Pakistan Army takes decision without referring to Civilian Authority as per Nawaz Sharif, example being Kargil Attack We are at a loss to under stand that all these are drama for the world community or the Civil Government in Pakistan is still ignorant of their Army’s deception.
