Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan has announced that as many as 3.5 million students will be given admission to schools during August 14 to 21 October in Punjab under ‘Universal Primary Enrollment Campaign’.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Directorate General of Public Relations Punjab, he said that special survey committees will visit public sector as well as private schools every month to review that how many students continue their studies and in which schools the students number has reduced. He said that an action will be initiated against the head master and concerned teachers of the school where students number recorded lower than previous one.
He said that the CM will inaugurate the campaign today at Aiwan-e-Iqbal during flag hoisting ceremony which was scheduled at Hazori Bagh earlier . The campaign will be continued during next two years to ensure that no child is deprived of primary education during the next three years.
He said that zonal committees comprising teachers, students, social workers, youth groups, boy scouts and girl guides have been formed at district, tehsil, mohallah and street level which will motivate the parents of their respective areas to send their children to schools. He said that a monthly stipend of Rs 200 is already being given to each girl child which is studying in backward districts of the province.
SHAHBAZ FOR FOREIGNERS’ SECURITY: Punjab chief minister on Tuesday said that a special force to protect foreigners would be constituted.
Punjab Police Inspector General Aftab Sultan briefed the CM on the current provincial security situation. Shahbaz asked the police and law enforcement agencies to remain alert in case of any untoward incident. In light of the recent rise in terrorism, Shahbaz ordered the recruitment of 4,000 constables in the police force.
This order follows a recent attack on foreign climbers in Pakistan that caused international uproar and led the federal government to suspend expeditions on Nanga Parbat until the security situation could be brought under control.
Furthermore, the CM stressed on fool-proof security measures, including the strict implementation of the ban on one-wheeling for August 14.
