PA deplores Indian aggression, Quetta attack

The Punjab Assembly (PA) on Monday unanimously passed two separate condemnation resolutions against the Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and the suicide attack in Quetta which killed 30 policemen.
The PA representatives also reopened the debate on the issue of the Punjab Local Government Bill-2013 to get more suggestions from its lawmakers. The House will adopt the Bill on August 15.
The assembly session started one hour and 50 minutes late to its scheduled time of 3PM under the Chairpersonship of Speaker Rana Iqbal.
The house suspended the rules of procedure for the opening debate on the bill and around 12 MPA’s participated in it. They recommended the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government to hold the local government elections on a party basis following the constitution’s article 140-A.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah moved the first joint resolution from the treasury as well the opposition regarding the terror attack on Quetta’s Police Lines in which Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Fiaz Ahmad Sumbal and other 30 police officers were martyred.
The resolution termed the Quetta killings a national tragedy and lauded the services of Sumbal while also expressing deep sorrow and grief with the victims’ families.
Subsequently, Sanaullah moved second resolution on the strong condemnation of aggressive Indian firing at the LoC.
Furthermore, it stated that before this brutal incident, India falsely accused Pakistan for killing two Indian soldiers and ,under guise of this allegation, violated the LoC and targeted innocent civilians by resorting to unprovoked firing.
The assembly expressed great shock and grief over the deaths that occurred as a result of this Indian aggression and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls. The resolution demanded the Federal Government to raise the issue at an international level and for the latter to ask her (India) to abide by the international laws.
The house unanimously passed both the resolutions. After which the house was adjourned till 10AM on Tuesday.
Shahab Uddin Khan, Sabtain Khan, Mian Rafique, Arif Abbassi, Mian Munir, Ahmed Shah Khaga, Waheed Gul, Siddique Khan, Mahfooz Mashhadi, Waheed Asghar Dogar and Faiza Malik participated in the open debate on 2013 Local Government bill on Monday.
