KP to hold local body elections in October: Khattak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Monday said local body elections in the province would be held in October.

Talking to reporters in Nowshera‚ he urged unity among all religious and political parties to end terrorism, adding that no party could deal with the issue single handedly.

To a query, the CM said JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman’s dream of coming into power would not come true.

The PTI and its allies would prevail in by-elections to be held on August 22 and Maulana Fazlur Rehman would not be able to fulfil his dream of taking over the provincial government.

“Fazl must disclose how he made money. His politics is not based on religion at all,” Khattak added.

“He (Fazl) believes in looting and the people of KP are aware of the fact. Those who point fingers at the PTI broke all records of corruption during their past tenure,” he said.

Khattak said an independent and autonomous accountability commission and intelligence bureau of the province would start working soon.

“We will ensure answerability for all without preference. We have got various complaints about previous government of ANP and others and they would be handed over to NAB for further action.”
