The Met Office on Monday predicted heavy rain which could lead to flashfloods in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan and Peshawar districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) during the next two days.
According to a Met Office spokesman, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan, Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad and Kashmir divisions are also likely to receive flashflood-causing rains and warned the people and officials of government departments of these divisions to be on high-alert during this period.
“Monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the upper and central parts of the country and a fresh western disturbance is likely to grip the upper parts of the country on Monday evening,” he said.
In the next 24 hours, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected in Kalat and Makran divisions, south-eastern and lower Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) with heavy rain in isolated areas of Kashmir, KP, Islamabad, upper Punjab and northeast Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad divisions).
Rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in upper Sindh, Mirpurkhas division and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) during the next 48 hours.
Rain with thunderstorm occurred in scattered places of Punjab, upper KP, northeast Balochistan and GB.
The maximum rain was received by Noorpur Thal 60mm followed by Gujranwala 57mm, Chakwal 50, Parachinar 46, Kohat 28, Multan 26, Bahawalnagar 20, Mianwali 10, Lahore 9, Dir 7, Mandibahaudin, Gujrat, Okara 5, Toba Tek Singh, Bunji, Sialkot 4, Kalam, Bahawalpur 3, Gupis, Murree, Sargodha, Sialkot Cant, Chitral, Jhelum 2, Chilas, Malamjaba, Mithi, Gilgit, Quetta (Samungli), Skardu, Kakul 1 whereas Islamabad, Bahawalpur City, Balakot, Peshawar, Peshawar City, Rawalakot, Rawalpindi and Shorkot received traces of rain in the last 24 hours.
The maximum temperature (45C) was recorded in Dalbandin.
