As many as 88 gangs of criminals were busted by the Sindh police in the province during the holy month of Ramadan.
This was stated in a Ramadan performance report presented to the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahid Baloch.
A police spokesman said here on Monday that from the first to 29th of Ramadan, there were 244 police encounters in the province and 88 gangs of criminals were busted.
In all, 18 dacoits and four terrorists were killed and 2,296 arrests were made during the same period.
In addition, some 10 kgs of explosive, 25 detonators, 12 hand grenades, four devices, a suicide jacket, 637 pistols, 17 rifles, 64 shot guns, 30
SMGs, one LMG and 11,578 rounds were recovered from the possession of the nabbed accused.
The report further pointed out that as many as 19 police personnel embraced martyrdom while fighting criminal elements in the province.
