10 killed in Eid day attack on Quetta mosque

At least 10 people were killed and over 20 injured in firing outside a mosque in Quetta’s Eastern Bypass area on first day of Eid on Friday.
Several armed men opened fire on faithful coming out of a mosque after offering Eid prayers.
According to police‚ former provincial minister Ali Madad Jatak was the target of the assailants‚ but he remained safe.
While preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was outcome of tribal feud.
On Sunday, a local magistrate gave a two-day physical remand of eight suspects involved in the firing tragedy outside Jamia Farooqia.
The police presented the suspects in the court of local magistrate on Sunday. After hearing the case, the magistrate granted a physical remand of all suspects for two days.
Police said the suspects had taken positions outside Jamia Farooqia mosque and opened indiscriminate fire targeting former provincial minister Ali Madad Jattak and his guards when they were leaving the mosque after offering Eid prayers, resulting in the death of 10 faithful including the former minister’s guards.
Also, one more person was killed in another firing incident on Sariab Road that day.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the incidents of firing in Quetta.
The president paid tribute to the valour and courage of the guard who sacrificed his life while protecting the lives of his fellow beings.
The prime minister directed law-enforcement agencies to remain vigilant in order to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists.
Deploring the loss of precious lives in the incident‚ he said those injured should be provided with best possible medical treatment.
He said the government was valiantly confronting the challenges and expressed the confidence that the menace of terrorism would soon be overcome.
On the other hand, tribal leader Zara Khan was killed and his two guards injured in a landmine explosion in Patokh area of Dera Bugti.
