At least 25 people drowned during Eidul Fitr holidays in various parts of the country on Saturday.
In Karachi about six people drowned in the Arabian Sea at a beachside picnic point in BinQasimTown area.
According to police reports, they were fishermen. Divers recovered the bodies of all the six victims.
Eight people who jumped in the IndusRiver in Dera Ghazi Khan at various picnic points around Taunsa Barrage failed to resurface.
In Khanewal, three picnicking children drowned in the IndusRiver near Head Sidhnai. Their bodies were retrieved and handed over to their families.
The body of a youth who drowned in the SiranRiver in Manhesra while swimming was also retrieved.
A minor was washed away in the floodwater in Jaffarabad’s Kot Allah Dad area. His body was recovered by the rescuers.
In a separate incident, an 8-year-old girl drowned in the RiceCanal.
In Mianwali, two men drowned in the IndusRiver whereas in Pud Eidan a boy drowned in NusratCanal running through Kot Laloo.
