The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) launched ‘Public Friendly Soft Policing Campaign’ for three days under the supervision of NH&MP Inspector General (IG) Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Motorway Police IG directed all zonal officers to distribute ‘Iftar’ packets containing juices, biscuits, dates, flowers and Eid greeting pamphlets among the commuters at all Toll Plaza’s of national highways and motorways. All SSPs and DSPs were present on roads to supervise the campaign.
Special duties and extra patrolling vehicles have been deployed to lend maximum help to commuters in light of Eid rush and to respond quickly to calls made on the motorway helpline.
The officers were asked to check overloading and overcharging by public service vehicles and to ensure passenger safety.
The IG also urged the officers to treat commuters with respect, exchange Eid greetings and to be lenient against minor violations.
