Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Shoaib has said there is no truth in reports of Taliban involvement in abduction of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani.
Addressing a press conference in his office on Thursday, the CPO refuted reports of Taliban involvement in Ali Haider’s abduction, saying “we have no confirmation of such reports and neither Gilani nor any of his family members has contacted us in this regard”.
Shoaib said the police had increased the former prime minister’s security as well as that of his family.
The Multan CPO said they were working to combat terrorism with the cooperation of other agencies, adding that strict security measures had been taken in the city for Eidul Fitr.
