Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said United States Secretary of State John Kerry’s recent visit to Pakistan has reduced the trust deficit between Pakistan and the US.
In an interview with VoA‚ Aziz said Washington also recognized the need to advance ties with Islamabad.
Answering a question‚ he said Islamabad and Washington were working together to move the Afghan reconciliation process forward.
He said both countries agreed that it should be an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process and no one should try to orchestrate it from outside.
“It is important that different Afghan groups‚ particularly the Afghan High Peace Council and the Taliban talk to each other in Doha‚ Dubai, Istanbul or somewhere else,” said Aziz.
Responding to a question‚ the adviser said significant progress had also been made in improving relations with India after the present government came to power.
